Scoraíochting

Scoraíochting is another local tradition that still exists though is less common, this is an age old custom of visiting a neighbour’s house, there were known scoraíoching houses locally where people would gather, sit and talk.  This was how news was communicated, folklore was handed down, letters from American were read…it was where matches were made, there could be devilment and fun or sombre togetherness at the time of a death and the wake.
